50th Anniversary BARBEQUE
To all members,
Following on from email we sent out in May regarding the celebration day we had planned for the 14th July I thought I would send an update.
As you may remember we had invited a number of organisations to attend in support of our theme of “Enjoy gardening while respecting the environment” however only the “Hedgehog Sanctuary” are able to join us owing to other commitments, not helped of course by our event clashing with the Harpenden Highland Gathering.
So it has been decided to continue with the day, when Martin from the Hedgehog Sanctuary will be on-site to answer any questions and will have some prickly friends with him to allow members young and old to see hedgehogs close up, plus to move the BBQ forward to be available from 2pm. The BBQ will have both veggie and vegan options as well as the usual fare for meat eaters as well as a treasure (vegetable) hunt and other activities that might appeal to members children who could come along.
The Shop will also be open, in addition to the normal Sunday morning slot to enable members to purchase any items they wish.
We are still in contact with the other organisations and it is hoped we will be able to organize further days when they will be able to come along.
It has also been announced the Southdown Festival is planned for Sept 2019 and the Society plans also to participate as part of our 50th celebrations.
Again, can I ask you to assist us in planning catering by emailing me an indication if you might attend along with numbers to [email protected] ? It’s not any kind of commitment just to give us an idea of potential numbers. No need to respond if you don’t plan to attend.
We do hope you will be able to join us and look forward to seeing you there.
