CAROLE PAMPHLETT
1943 - 2024
Sadly I have to let you all know that Carole died on 29th February 2024 in a nursing home in Sidcup, Kent, peacefully in her sleep after been diagnosed with terminal leukaemia just three weeks earlier. Carole had dedicated her life to our Allotment Society for more than twenty years acting as our Treasurer and a Trustee of the Society. She had struggled for many years after contracting meningitis in her forties leaving her profoundly deaf. She had a fall two years ago, when she broke her hip and she never really recovered her mobility, but still kept fully involved with her duties as our Treasurer, despite having to give up her award winning plot next door to her house in Dark Lane.
Our condolences to her two sons, Matthew and Andrew and their families.
Carole had left strict instructions about her death and did not want a funeral service, just a private cremation. As a memorial to mark her life we have offered the family the site at Piggottshill for a summer barbecue, with a chance to spread her ashes where she got so much enjoyment.
This year's Awards will have a new cup for the most colourful plot - a prize Carole won several times - The Carole Pamphlett Cup.
